Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Life in Amed?

Our drivers can pick you up anywhere on the island or at the airport (about 2.5 hours). You can also follow Google Maps. Once in Amed, our “Follow Your Heart” signs along the coast road lead you to us.

What is there to do in Amed?

Amed is the quiet side of Bali: no traffic jams, a relaxing place. You can snorkel, scuba dive or learn to freedive straight from the shore, and visit temples and water palaces on day trips. Read our Amed guide.

Can I go diving from the hotel?

Yes. We partner with one of the longest-established dive companies in Amed, for first-time beginners through to experienced divers. The world-famous Liberty wreck is not far, and the dive centre picks you up at the hotel each morning.

Is the ocean safe to swim in?

Yes. We are in a bay with a sandy beach and plenty of coral directly in front. Rent snorkel gear for about US$4 a day or bring your own.

How can I get around?

Our staff rent scooters to guests (please wear a helmet and have travel insurance), and we have drivers to take you further. It is easy to walk to the next village, and some restaurants will pick you up.

Can I take a yoga class if I am a beginner?

Of course. Our peaceful garden shala is the perfect place for your first class. Classes are small and the teacher gives everyone attention. See the class schedule.

Does the restaurant have gluten-free options?

Yes: fresh salads, curries with rice, grilled fish, vegetarian and vegan soups, gluten-free pancakes for breakfast and gluten-free chocolate cakes.

How do I pay for my reservation?

Book online through our secure booking engine, or pay a deposit by credit card, PayPal or Wise. The balance can be paid during your stay by credit card or in cash (rupiah, US dollars or euros). See our booking terms.

Will I see traditional Balinese life?

Yes. We are in a small village with special days in the Balinese calendar for offerings at home temples, on cars, scooters and fishing boats, as well as ceremonies for babies, weddings and cremations. Our staff sometimes invite guests, and you can borrow our Life sarongs.
